Because he was a Christian, Saint Panteleimon was greatly tortured so he could renounce his faith, but his love for Christ gave him the strength to go through all the terrible tortures, and to be a witness to the love and power of God. Before his Martyric torments began, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ appeared to Saint Panteleimon and strengthened him for these sufferings. Saint Hermolaus also strengthened his spiritual child Saint Panteleimon through his Martyrdom.
