When Saint Alexios’ virtue became known among the local Christians, he fled the crowds of people who began to come to him for a blessing and by God’s Will he returned to his father’s home living in the courtyard as a beggar, and he humbly suffered much as he was unrecognised by everyone. Saint Alexios also struggled greatly with the pain of seeing his wife weeping over the disappearance of her husband, and his mother weeping and Praying for her son.
