Saint Alexios was married, and when it was evening and time for him to come together with his wife, his love for God was so strong that he gave his ring and his belt to his bride, he blessed her and said goodbye to her, secretly leaving for Edessa.
“Keep these things, beloved, and may the Lord be with us until His Grace provides us with something better.”
