A Prayer from The Akathist Hym to Our Sweetest Lord Jesus Christ: Having a tempest of doubting thoughts within, Peter was sinking. But beholding Thee, O Jesus, bearing flesh and walking on the waters, he knew Thee to be the True God; and receiving the hand of Salvation, he cried: Alleluia.

A Prayer from the Paraklesis to Panagia Quick to Hear: Most grievously tossed upon the stormy sea of life, and all-overwhelmed with swelling waves of sufferings, we take flight, O Virgin, to thy blest Icon as to a tranquil port; wherefore, stretch forth thy hand to us, and save us from tempests as thy Son saved Peter.

Prayer Toward the Unknown: O Lord, You who steadied the hand of Peter as he began to sink on the stormy sea, if You are with me, no one is against me. Grant to me the shield of faith and the mighty armour of the Holy Spirit to protect me and guide me to do Your Will. The future I put into Your hands, O Lord, and I follow You to a life in Christ. Amen.

Prayer from The Great Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete: I am surrounded by the storm of sin, O Compassionate Lord. But stretch out Your hand to me, as once You did to Peter. Have mercy on me, O God. Have mercy on me.

Matthew 14: 22-33

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”. And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
