& Sunday nearest January 25th – Synaxis of all the New Martyrs of the Russian Church in the Twentieth Century
The Life of Saint Elizabeth: They were herded into the forest, pushed into an abandoned mineshaft, into which grenades were then hurled. An observer heard them singing Church Hymns as they were pushed into the mineshaft. After the Bolsheviks left, he could still hear singing for some time…
The Life of Saint Barbara: As Sisters of Grand Duchess Elizabeth’s Convent, the women were well known throughout Moscow for performing acts of charity. Prayers
Canon to the Holy and Righteous Nun-Martyrs Elizabeth and Barbara
Troparion – Tone 4: Emulating the Lord’s self-abasement on the Earth, you gave up royal mansions to serve the poor and disdained, overflowing with compassion for the suffering. And taking up a Martyr’s Cross, in your meekness you perfected the Saviour’s image within yourself, therefore, with Barbara, entreat Him to save us all, O wise Elizabeth.
Kontakion – Tone 3: In the midst of worldliness, thy mournful heart dwelt in Heaven; in barbaric godlessness, your valiant Soul was not troubled; you longed to meet your Bridegroom as a Confessor, and He found you worthy of your Martyric purpose. O Elizabeth, with Barbara, your brave companion, Pray to your Bridegroom for us.

“We work, Pray and hope every day to experience God’s Mercy. Every day we experience a continuous Miracle. Others begin to feel this and come to our Church in order to give their Souls a rest.”
“I long to give thanks, to give thanks every minute for everything that the Lord has given me. I long to bring Him my insignificant gratitude, serving Him and His suffering children.”
“It seems that from my childhood I had a great desire to help those suffering, especially those whose Souls are in pain.”
“We must rise from the mournful Earth to Heaven and rejoice with the Angels over the Salvation of a single saved Soul, over a single cup of cold water given in the Name of the Lord.”
“We must submit to God’s Will. God’s ways seem difficult to understand, but they are providential and serve for our good, which will soon become known to us.”
“I am convinced that every good deed accompanies us into another world where God accepts it in expiation of our sins.”
“If you only knew how unworthy I feel of this immeasurable happiness that God bestows on me, granting me good health and the opportunity to work for Him.”
“I am sure that using a Prayer Rope when you Pray will be a deep consolation and solid support for the entire time of our life. Hold on tightly to it, dear, trust in it, and peace will descend on you. Then you will no longer be able to live without these words, connecting us with the Giver of all joy, suffering and the very life, both in this world and beyond.”
“The goal of my convent is to comfort the grieving and help those in need. In this way I hope to make a contribution to our beloved homeland.”
“Unite and be like one Soul. Do everything for God and repeat after St John Chrysostom, “Glory to God for all things”.”

Let us lay aside all Earthly cares that we may receive the King of All

If someone says I love God and hates his brother he is a liar. If you do not love the brother whom you see, how will you be able to love God Whom you do not see.
