A Prayer
Kontakion – Tone 2: You appeared as a bright star announcing Christ with your radiance, which is repulsive to this world, O Martyr Julitta; extinguishing the allure of false gods, you enlighten the faithful, always interceding for us all.

Julitta went to the flames with a joyful ardour, exhorting the Christian women along the way to the pyre, saying:
“We too, like men, are created in the image of God. Virtue is possible for women as well as for men. Flesh of the flesh of Adam, bone of his bone, we must offer constancy, courage, virility and a longsuffering endurance to the Lord”.
Arriving at the place of execution, she mounted the pyre as though she were entering a light-filled bridal chamber.
