Saint Nicholas lived a Holy life from the moment of his conception, because his parents, Theophanes and Nonna, were Holy Christians living a life of Prayer, fasting and almsgiving. They consecrated their son to God at his birth, and Saint Nicholas always remembered the love and devotion to God of his parents, and he promised he would help anyone who remembers his parents in their Prayers.

As a very young child, Saint Nicholas loved to study Sacred Scriptures and Liturgical Texts. He was known to the local people as a devoted youth who would remain in the Church late into the night reading the Sacred Texts.
