Saint Olympias Pray to God for us.

Saint Olympias was betrothed to be married, but when her bridegroom reposed, she remained a virgin and a widow. Saint Olympias now spent her life in Prayer, fasting and helping the poor.

When her parents died, she inherited their great wealth and distributed it to the poor, orphaned, widows, Churches, Monasteries and hospices. She attended to the Hierarchs of the Church with great love and gave them money to help anyone who needed it.

Saint Olympias was very close with Saint John Chrysostom, many times he sent her sweetly-worded epistles. When Saint John Chrysostom was exiled he called out to Saint Olympias and the other Deaconesses, telling them to continue serving the Church.

+

Saint Olympias was persecuted and interrogated for supposedly comitting arson, and was sent to prison. Here she suffered in great sorrow, and Saint John Chrysostom wrote to her from his exile to console her in her.

+

Saint Olympias reposed during her exile.
