Saint Paraskevi was born to Christian parents Agathon and Politia, they were childless for many years and Prayed to God to grant them a child. When they were pregnant with Saint Paraskevi, they dedicated her to God, and named her Paraskevi which means Preparation – the day of preparation for the Sabbath. From a very young age Saint Paraskevi dedicated herself to God, preparing her body and Soul as a Holy dwelling place of Christ. Saint Paraskevi spent her childhood in Prayer and reading the Holy Scriptures.
