Saint Seraphim once had a now famous conversation with his Spiritual child Nicholas Motovilov. Nicholas had a life-long question, about the aim of the Christian life, of which he had never received a satisfactory answer for. Saint Seraphim told him “The true aim of our Christian life consists in the acquisition of the Holy Spirit of God.”
Then Father Seraphim took me very firmly by the shoulders and said: “We are both in the Spirit of God now, my son…”
