The Descent of Christ into Hades
The Earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof, the world, and all that dwell therein… Lift up your gates, o ye princes; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting gates, and the King of Glory shall enter in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in war. Lift up your gates, O ye princes; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting gates, and the King of Glory shall enter in, Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of Glory!
The fiery sword is not guarding the entrance to Eden anymore. For it was extinguished in paradoxical manner by the tree of the Cross. The sting of death and the victory of Hades have been stricken. And You, my Saviour, came and cried out to those in Hades: Enter again into Paradise.
